If you are here for the GP race weekend – you have a ton of opportunities available to you. This weekend is truly all about the fans and the series, it’s sponsors, and their promoters have done a great job at making sure you all know how valued you are and how welcome you are here at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Today is exactly what the hashtag tells you it is… fans are welcome to tour the Verizon IndyCar Series garages! According to policy, all fans must be over the age of 9 and they must sign a waiver. If you are interested in partaking in this, head to Gasoline Alley Garage #35 (just south of the Panasonic Pagoda) and look for the “Ivy Tech Tour” signs. There has been a line since the gates opened at 9:00 a.m. today, but it looked to be moving at a pretty steady pace.
Remember that in order to take part in Free Garage Friday, or any other race-related events at the track today, you need to purchase a ticket. They are only $20 today and children 12 and under are admitted free!
While you are in the Pagoda Plaza area, head down towards Gasoline Alley. One of the last garages on the right is the Firestone Fan Garage! This place is jam-packed with awesome things to do, contests to win, swag to bag and fun to be had! The great folks at Firestone have very cool posters to giveaway, as well as guitar picks branded with the words “Destination Country”. The music influence is thanks to country superstars, Florida Georgia Line, headlining Legend’s Day later this month. Make sure you walk around the garage and take your picture with the larger-than-life guitar and try your hand at the racing simulators.
Make sure you take the minute or two required to register at a tablet when you first walk in the Firestone Garage. You’ll likely walk away with a pair of Firestone sunglasses and you’ll be entered into a sweepstakes to win a VIP Package to the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in May of 2016. In general, I might be one of a few people who schedule their lives out a year or more to try and accommodate everything… but we ALL know where we will be on Sunday, May 29th, 2016… so why not attend in style?
Indy Fans Tweet Up at #GPofIndy!
Last but certainly not least is the event I have such a great time hosting and co-hosting throughout the season and one that is driven SOLELY by you the fans! Without the fans, an Indy Fans Tweet Up couldn’t even exist. We would love to bring as many IndyCar fans together as possible this weekend, so make sure to tweet about it, tell all your friends, and of course, join us!
What: The Indy Fans Tweet Up at the Grand Prix of Indy!
Where: Panasonic Pagoda Plaza
When: Saturday, May 9th at 12:30 P.M.
Who: YOU, THE FANS! Bring friends, family and new folks you happen to meet here at the track!
Why: Because this is what IndyCar is all about… the fans coming together to discuss the series and meet with others that share their passion. The drivers pilot the race cars but the fans pilot the success of the series.
I am very excited to announce that Dale Coyne Racing driver Pippa Mann, will be on hand for the Tweet Up tomorrow as well as our awesome friends from Arms Up Motorsports and some pretty awesome surprise guests! So look for all of us at 12:30pm in front of the newly branded Panasonic Pagoda – we’ll have a Q&A session and even some goodies to giveaway! We are back home in Indiana and we want to celebrate with all of YOU!
