Oriol Servia, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, Marotti Racing Team Up for Indianapolis 500

JGS_0504-1Oriol Servia has been racing Indy cars for the past 15 years. He got his start in CART in 2000 with PPI Motorsports, and placed as runner-up for Rookie of the Year. He’s run at least one race a year since then, except for the 2010 season. His sole win came in 2005 in Montreal for the Champ Car World Series. Most recently, Servia filled in for Team Penske driver Will Power at this season’s opener in St. Petersburg. At the season finale in Sonoma last year, the family members of the late Justin Wilson requested Servia specifically, to drive Wilson’s car for Andretti. He’s a solid driver with a very respected style on track.

Servia has placed in the Top 10 for more than half of the 198 races he’s contested, and this May, he will start his 199th race when he starts in the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced today that Servia would pilot their third car, the No. 77 Honda, for the iconic race at the Yard of Bricks. Marotti Racing will be working with SPM and Servia as a co-entrant in the 500. Will Marotti, founder of Marotti Racing is an enthusiastic partner and has had a lifelong love of the Indy 500:

“We are thankful and excited beyond measure to be able to participate in the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 with a team of the quality and caliber of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports,” said Marotti. “This is the fulfillment of a 47-year-old personal dream, and we hope just the first of many years that Marotti Racing will be in the paddock and part of the IndyCar community.”

Marotti Racing is as passionate about IndyCar as you are – so they are giving fans the opportunity to make an investment in the team, snag a team t-shirt and also be entered for a chance to win a 2-seater ride at 2:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 25th. The winner will also get to have dinner with Oriol Servia that night! The winner’s name will be drawn this Tuesday, April 26th so make sure you get invested now – limited spots left! I spoke to Adam Cass, who is a young & aspiring Indy car driver working with Marotti for the 500, and he confirmed that the fans names who invest in the team will be placed on the race livery! That’s a pretty amazing deal if you ask me. Click here to see the details, invest, and be part of history with Marotti, SPM, and Oriol Servia.
