Kevin Harvick (and Crew) Looking for Freaky Fast Start to the Chase

by Ryan Isley In this weekend’s MyAFibStory.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, Kevin Harvick will have sponsor Jimmy John’s – whose motto is “freaky fast” – on his No.4 Chevrolet. He has to hoping his new pit crew is freaky fast, unlike the crew he has used all season. Harvick will start the “Challenger” round of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase for the Sprint Cup this week sixth place in points, six points behind leader Brad Keselowski. Harvick had two wins this season, but could have easily led the series in victories if not for the mistakes on pit road. … Continue reading Kevin Harvick (and Crew) Looking for Freaky Fast Start to the Chase

New or Old, NASCAR Chase Format Provides Drama

by Ryan Isley Sometimes change is good. And sometimes it isn’t. Then again, there are times when it can be both. The 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup season has been an example of the latter. Prior to the season, NASCAR officials announced that there would be some changes made regarding driver eligibility for the Chase and also the number of participants in NASCAR’s “playoff” system. New this season is that the Chase has expanded from 12 drivers to 16 drivers. It could be 17 or 18 drivers if NASCAR decides to change the rules on the fly again this season, but … Continue reading New or Old, NASCAR Chase Format Provides Drama

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Eldora Speedway Needs To Happen

NASCAR was slinging mud this week, but in a good way. The Camping World Truck Series held the second annual 1-800 CarCash Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio to the delight of the capacity crowd and fans watching on television. In one of the most exciting races of the season – just as it was last year – Darrell Wallace, Jr survived an amazing onslaught from Kyle Larson to win the race. Larson ended up finishing 26th after hitting the wall on what he estimated to be at least 70 times. His car finally couldn’t hold on … Continue reading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Eldora Speedway Needs To Happen

Brad Keselowski Back In Championship Form in 2014

By Ryan Isley If the last two months are any indication, we are in for one heck of a ride as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season heads to the Chase for the Sprint Cup. That’s because one of the most entertaining drivers in the series – Brad Keselowski – is right in the middle of the hunt for the championship. When the season began, it looked as if the pain of missing the Chase last season after winning the Sprint Cup Series championship in 2012 was behind him. He started the season as one of the hottest drivers in … Continue reading Brad Keselowski Back In Championship Form in 2014

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Drivers Hurting NASCAR Nationwide Series

by Ryan Isley The first step in fixing a problem is admitting that you have one in the first place. That is something NASCAR is not very good at doing, but they need to start. No, the problem isn’t that Aric Almirola won the rain-shortened Firecracker 400 to throw a wrench into the Chase for the Sprint Cup Series. It has nothing to do with the newly formed Race Car Alliance. This time, it doesn’t even pertain to their attendance and falling television viewership. Nope, this time the issue is how NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers are taking over and … Continue reading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Drivers Hurting NASCAR Nationwide Series

Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Relationship is a Bad Idea

by Ryan Isley As if being a rookie in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wasn’t tough enough, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Danica Patrick just added an unnecessary level of difficulty. Just when it seemed like the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year race couldn’t get any more interesting, news came out that Danica and Stenhouse, Jr. – the top two rookies in 2013 – are now dating. This cannot be what NASCAR wanted to see happen. This isn’t like a driver dating someone who works in another capacity within a team or a crew chief dating a female … Continue reading Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Relationship is a Bad Idea

Grading Ryan's 2012 NASCAR Predictions

by Ryan Isley Back before the 2012 NASCAR season began, I decided to put my prognosticating skills to the test and made six predictions for the upcoming season. The season started with a Monday night finish at the Daytona 500 and ended this past weekend when Brad Keselowski closed the season by winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship. I thought this was the time to look back at those six predictions I made and see which ones I hit on and which ones I whiffed on. 1 – Kurt Busch Most Likely 2011 Chase Driver to Miss the Chase in … Continue reading Grading Ryan's 2012 NASCAR Predictions
