Ed Carpenter Racing, Team Penske dominate Fast 9 qualifying positions

Four teams will battle for the pole position of the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500, but two of those teams have 7 of the Fast 9 positions covered. Bump day returns, Mann won’t compete in 2018 Indianapolis 500

Two cars were unable to qualify for the field of 33 yesterday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Neither James Hinchcliffe in the No. 5 Arrow SPM Honda or Pippa Mann in the No. 63 Donate Life Dale Coyne Honda will start in the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500. Where do I even start? For years, fans of IndyCar have complained that Bump Day wasn’t legitimate anymore, they wanted that drama and pressure back. Raindrops brought Indianapolis 500 qualifications to a stop after 10 cars completed their efforts. Helio Castroneves put his No. 3 Team Penske Chevrolet at the top of the board, with a 4-lap average of 228.919.
