By Ryan Isley Let’s play a game. I will give you 10 chances to guess which driver in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is the only one to finish in the top-15 in each of the season’s first six races. Could you do it? Here we go… It isn’t Kevin Harvick, even though he has three wins and four top-5s. It isn’t Martin Truex Jr, but the reigning series champion has finished in the top-5 in each of the last five races. It isn’t Kyle Busch, who has three seconds and a third in the last four races. It … Continue reading Aric Almirola has been an upgrade for Stewart-Haas Racing
by Ryan Isley How do you prove that nepotism isn’t the reason you have a ride with a NASCAR team? Kick everyone’s ass like Chase Elliott did this season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The son of NASCAR Hall of Fame member Bill Elliott showed that he got his father’s genes when he took the Nationwide Series – and the NASCAR community as a whole – by storm when he picked up the first win on his Nationwide Series career fro JR Motorsports at Texas in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 on April 4. Along with ending a 143-race winless drought at Michigan earlier this season, the 37-year-old from Kannapolis, North Carolina has had one of- if not his most – consistent season in his 13th full season in NASCAR’s top circuit. His 10 top-5 … Continue reading Could Distractions be the Undoing of Dale Earnhardt, Jr.?

Apparently to get a ride in NASCAR these days, looks and marketability are just as important as actual driving ability. Just ask Danica Patrick.
For a driver who has one career victory, Patrick sure gets a lot of headlines when it comes to racing. News out of NASCAR is that Patrick will race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series full-time in 2012 for JR Motorsports and will more than likely make her NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in the 2012 Daytona 500 driving for Stewart-Haas Racing.
Forgive me if I missed the part of her career when she became an elite racecar driver, but what exactly has she done to be awarded this handout? When was the last time that someone who has won so little got this much hype, press and opportunities? Besides LeBron James, that is?
