Hate from NASCAR fans continues as Kyle Busch heads to Richmond looking for third win in a row

By Ryan Isley There is a saying I like to use quite often on social media – “haters gonna hate.” When it comes to NASCAR, the haters don’t come out for anyone stronger than they do for Kyle Busch. Those haters may not have a good weekend as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to Richmond Raceway for the Toyota Owners 400 on Saturday night. Coming off wins in back-to-back races, plenty of NASCAR fans have already started to show their impatience and displeasure when it comes to watching Busch take the checkered flag. They might have to get … Continue reading Hate from NASCAR fans continues as Kyle Busch heads to Richmond looking for third win in a row

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series youth movement will have to wait for now

by Ryan Isley Is the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series about to go out with the old and in with the new? Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch would like to think not. While NASCAR has been busy promoting its younger drivers, Harvick and Busch have been busy racking up points and wins. When the season was about to begin, Busch spoke out about NASCAR’s marketing campaign that centered around younger drivers such as Ryan Blaney, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott, Erik Jones, William Byron, Daniel Suarez and Darrell Wallace Jr, all drivers who are currently 26 years of age or younger. … Continue reading The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series youth movement will have to wait for now

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship Round Storylines and Prediction

by Ryan Isley The 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season has come down to this. Four drivers, 267 laps and 401 miles to crown a champion. That part is going to be similar to any NASCAR season under the current Chase for the Sprint Cup format. But one thing this season has that not every season will have is that all four drivers have a storyline heading into Homestead. Below are the storylines for each driver (in alphabetical order) and my championship prediction. Kyle Busch – The Comeback Kid: The 30-year-old driver couldn’t have possibly imagined he would be sitting … Continue reading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship Round Storylines and Prediction

Sorting Through NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Possibilities

by Ryan Isley The more things change, the more they stay the same. NASCAR’s new eligibility rules for the Chase for the Sprint Cup are in their second season. And while people have gotten a little more comfortable with how a driver becomes Chase eligible, there still seems to be a little bit of confusion. With just nine races remaining until the Chase for the Sprint Cup begins, there are just four drivers who have actually clinched their spots in the Chase. Jimmie Johnson (four wins), Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Kurt Busch (two wins each) are the only … Continue reading Sorting Through NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Possibilities

Why NASCAR Needs To Ban The Confederate Flag

by Ryan Isley Perception often is reality in the eyes of most people. And it’s perception that has NASCAR in a unique position when it comes to the Confederate flag. To some, the perception of NASCAR is still a good ol’ boys club in the south. One where fans (and drivers) are just a bunch of backwoods redneck hillbillies who drive beat up pickup trucks with a sawed off shotgun attached to a gun rack on the back as they drive through the woods to a spot where they guzzle beer (or moonshine), chew tobacco and strum a banjo. Hell, … Continue reading Why NASCAR Needs To Ban The Confederate Flag

NASCAR Hoping Kurt Busch Doesn't Make The Chase

Sometimes a gesture of good faith that you really don’t want to take blows up in your face. This could very well be the case with NASCAR when it comes to the decision to allow Kurt Busch to be eligible for the 2015 Chase for the Sprint Cup should he meet the requirements necessary. The 36-year-old Busch was suspended indefinitely on the Friday prior to the Daytona 500 (February 20) after the Kent County (Delaware) Family Court commissioner released a finding that shows he believed that Busch did indeed commit an act of domestic abuse against former girlfriend Patricia Driscoll. … Continue reading NASCAR Hoping Kurt Busch Doesn't Make The Chase

Kevin Harvick Takes Hot Streak To His Best Track

Sometimes, a nickname is perfect. And lately, the nickname “The Closer” has fit Kevin Harvick like a glove. The defending Sprint Cup Series champion will head into this weekend’s race on a tear that is rarely seen. Going back to the final three races of 2014, Harvick has finished first or second in six consecutive races. Harvick won the final two last season to clinch a spot in the championship round and then to walk away with the trophy and then won again last week to all but guarantee his spot in the 2015 Chase for the Sprint Cup. As … Continue reading Kevin Harvick Takes Hot Streak To His Best Track

Ten Predictions for the 2015 NASCAR Season

by Ryan Isley It seems like Kevin Harvick was just hoisting the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship trophy over his head and yet here we are at the beginning of another NASCAR season. While there were plenty of stories in the NASCAR offseason that occurred off the track, it is time to finally focus on racing. As much as I am not a fan of doing predictions (thank you Twitter trolls), I figured I could at least give 10 predictions for this upcoming season. These 10 are separate for my first prediction from a couple of weeks ago when … Continue reading Ten Predictions for the 2015 NASCAR Season

After Career Year, Joey Logano Looks Poised to be a Serious Contender

by Ryan Isley Joey Logano will find himself in unfamiliar territory when the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season begins. Instead of being just another possible contender, Logano will have to be looked at as a possible favorite to win the championship. The now 24-year-old driver had shown glimpses of the talent that made him shoot through the ranks of NASCAR heading into last season, recording 12 top-5s and 19 top-10s in 2013. The only thing holding Logano back from being a serious threat to the Sprint Cup Series championship was that he had not proven himself to be a … Continue reading After Career Year, Joey Logano Looks Poised to be a Serious Contender
