NASCAR Opening Weekend Was One to Remember

by Ryan Isley Deadpool may have had a great weekend at the box office last week, but NASCAR just had a hell of an opening weekend for the 2016 season. Johnny Sauter won the NextEra Energy Resources 250 in the Camping World Truck Series Friday night in what was a great race from start to finish, Chase Elliott held off Joey Logano to win the Xfinity Series PowerShares QQQ on Saturday and then in the finale, Denny Hamlin edged out Martin Truex, Jr. at the finish in the closest finish in Daytona 500 history. Here are some of my thoughts … Continue reading NASCAR Opening Weekend Was One to Remember

50 Thoughts and Questions as the 2016 NASCAR Season Revs Up

by Ryan Isley It’s that time of year again – where NASCAR ends its winter vacation and heads to Daytona to get back on track for another season. This year instead of doing a lengthy prediction series or post as I have done in the past, I decided to come up with a bunch of different random thoughts and questions that are on my mind as we head into the 2016 season. There will also be championship predictions for all three main series. In no particular order…   I am not sure that I am smart enough to completely understand … Continue reading 50 Thoughts and Questions as the 2016 NASCAR Season Revs Up

Ryan Blaney Showing Toughness it Takes to Succeed In NASCAR

Ryan Isley Everyone makes mistakes. It’s how they respond to the mistake that matters. Ryan Blaney has certainly passed that test in the past few weeks. While Blaney is not running a full-time schedule in any of the top three NASCAR series in 2015, he is running a limited schedule in all three – the Camping World Truck Series, Xfinity Series and Sprint Cup Series after competing full-time in the Camping World Truck Series the past two seasons. Blaney looked strong in his 14 starts in the Xfinity Series in 2014, picking up a win with 10 top-5s and 13 … Continue reading Ryan Blaney Showing Toughness it Takes to Succeed In NASCAR

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race At Eldora Once Again A Great Show

by Ryan Isley Not only is Ohio an important battleground state in the presidential election, but the Buckeye state has now become one of the most important stops on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. For the third straight season, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series headed to a dirt track in western Ohio this past Wednesday. And for the third straight year, the trucks put on a memorable show at Eldora Speedway. Christopher Bell won his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, joining Austin Dillon and Bubba Wallace as winners of the 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic. Just … Continue reading NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race At Eldora Once Again A Great Show

Ten Predictions for the 2015 NASCAR Season

by Ryan Isley It seems like Kevin Harvick was just hoisting the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship trophy over his head and yet here we are at the beginning of another NASCAR season. While there were plenty of stories in the NASCAR offseason that occurred off the track, it is time to finally focus on racing. As much as I am not a fan of doing predictions (thank you Twitter trolls), I figured I could at least give 10 predictions for this upcoming season. These 10 are separate for my first prediction from a couple of weeks ago when … Continue reading Ten Predictions for the 2015 NASCAR Season

Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Making a Name For Himself in NASCAR Truck Series

It is funny how quickly things can develop. At this time last season, Darrell “Bubba” Wallace, Jr. was just trying to find his way. Now, the 20-year-old driver is fast becoming one of the best drivers in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. When Wallace found his way into victory lane last October in the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway, he became the first African-American driver to win a race in one of NASCAR’s top divisions since Wendell Scott in 1963. It shouldn’t have come as a surprise that Wallace eventually won a race in his first season in the … Continue reading Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Making a Name For Himself in NASCAR Truck Series

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Eldora Speedway Needs To Happen

NASCAR was slinging mud this week, but in a good way. The Camping World Truck Series held the second annual 1-800 CarCash Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio to the delight of the capacity crowd and fans watching on television. In one of the most exciting races of the season – just as it was last year – Darrell Wallace, Jr survived an amazing onslaught from Kyle Larson to win the race. Larson ended up finishing 26th after hitting the wall on what he estimated to be at least 70 times. His car finally couldn’t hold on … Continue reading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Eldora Speedway Needs To Happen

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Drivers Hurting NASCAR Nationwide Series

by Ryan Isley The first step in fixing a problem is admitting that you have one in the first place. That is something NASCAR is not very good at doing, but they need to start. No, the problem isn’t that Aric Almirola won the rain-shortened Firecracker 400 to throw a wrench into the Chase for the Sprint Cup Series. It has nothing to do with the newly formed Race Car Alliance. This time, it doesn’t even pertain to their attendance and falling television viewership. Nope, this time the issue is how NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers are taking over and … Continue reading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Drivers Hurting NASCAR Nationwide Series

NASCAR 2013 Predictions Recap: Predictions 1 Through 12

by Ryan Isley Writer’s Note: Each Friday from November 23rd to February 15th, I will make a prediction for the 2013 NASCAR season spanning over all three main touring series – Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series. On February 8th and 15th, Ryan will predict the 12 drivers who will make the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase and the Sprint Cup champion. With just one prediction left – the Top Five finishers and Sprint Cup Series Champion – I thought it would be a good time to take a look back at all of the previous NASCAR … Continue reading NASCAR 2013 Predictions Recap: Predictions 1 Through 12
